Rosamund Smith’s mother, Sarah Wilder Pollard Smith, was fond of Cape Ann and returned every summer until her death in 1917.

Rosamund Smith Bouvé was born in Boston in 1876 and studied at the Boston Fine Arts Museum and later in France, Spain, Germany, and Italy. She was a charter member of the Boston Guild of Artists. In 1924, she moved to New York with her husband Thomas Bouvé, who was a journalist, and was a prominent member of the National Association of Women Artists and exhibited extensively in New York and Philadelphia.
