Cady is best known and was most loved for his sometimes fanciful, sometimes realistic children’s book illustrations of endearing animal characters. He collaborated for about fifty years with children’s book writer Thornton Burgess and developed the Peter Rabbit comic strip (1920 to 1948) from a Burgess character.
