1922Cape Ann granite workers went on strike.Economy and Industry, Granite Industry, Labor

On April 1, 1922 granite workers walked off the job, demanding a raise in pay and a reduction of the work week from 44 to 40 hours. The strike lasted 11 months until an agreement was signed on February 1, 1923. Management of the Rockport Granite Company blamed the decline of the company on the strike because of the loss of potential business.
