2009Mayor Kirk presented a new plan for a working waterfront.Economy and Industry, Government and Public Service, Maritime & Fishing Industry, City Government

The plan described a working waterfront rooted in commercial fishing, but expanded maritime uses outside of what had been the traditional “marine industrial” required by the state’s Designated Port Area rules. The city’s harbor plan was last updated in 1999. In 2006, an proposed updated harbor plan foundered because of disagreements among landowners.
