2016Niles Beach was temporarily shut down after the fishing dragger Blue Ocean washed ashore.Economy and Industry, Maritime & Fishing Industry

The dragger first broke free of its anchor on November 10 and the City and U.S. Coast Guard made several efforts to salvage the vessel. Unfortunately, they weren’t successful so they hired Gloucester-based Marine Solutions Inc. to haul and distress the 54-foot wooden Eastern-rigged dragger, which cost the city about $30,000.
