12,000-11,000 years agoOne of the largest and oldest Paleo-Indian sites in the United States, Bull Brook, which is located in what is now called Ipswich, dates from around 12,000 to 11,000 years ago.People and Communities, Indigenous People's History

In the 1950s and 1960s, over 6,000 artifacts were discovered in an area along the banks of the Bull Brook and the Egypt Rivers, some of which were radiocarbon dated to about 11,500 years ago.

The existence of this site proved that people lived in this region thousands of years earlier than previously believed, and changed anthropologists’ knowledge of the arrival of the first inhabitants of North America.
