1656Restrictions tightened on Native people.People and Communities, Indigenous People's History

Colonists feared resistance against their appropriations of land and resources and challenges to their power. They made it illegal for colonists to sell boats, skiffs, or horses to Indigenous people. Black and Indigenous people could not be armed and were forbidden from receiving military training.
