This business grew out of Eames, Stimson & Co. to be a leader in the Cape Ann granite industry and an internationally recognized name. Over time, the Rockport Granite Company purchased smaller quarry firms and occupied more than 200 acres around Flat Ledge in Rockport, 100 acres at Pigeon Cove, 42 acres at Lanesville, and 245 acres at Bay View. At one time, they employed over 800 people.
