This was the first available project for Cape Ann artists under the WPA arts programs. Gloucester artist Bertha Menzler Peyton and eight other Rockport artists, Parker Perkins, W. Lester Stevens, John M. Buckley, George T. Le Boutillier, Helen Currier, Maurice Compris, Frederick L. King, and Samuel F. Hershey with W. Lester Stevens in charge.
