1960The Bureau of Fisheries Boston Technology Lab moved to Gloucester.Economy and Industry, Maritime & Fishing Industry, Technology

The lab was established in Boston in 1947 and they initiated a major study of freezing fish at sea the following year. In 1959, Bureau technologists at the Gloucester Laboratory demonstrated the practicality of using refrigerated seawater to store whiting prior to processing.
