Several artists left the Rockport Art Association to affiliate with the Gallery, including Ann Brockman, Iver Rose, Samuel Hershey, and Sidney Raynes. They were less traditional artists, and some took on social issues. Unfortunately, there was only a tiny market for such work with tourists or conservative residents, and the gallery closed after a couple of seasons.
