The district, which includes 200 institutional, commercial, and early residential buildings on 36 acres, formed by Main and Middle Street. It “illustrates the major themes of Gloucester’s history, containing individual buildings of historic and/or architectural significance, and is notable for the visual and historic integrity of its buildings, streets and spaces.”
