The three-alarm fire that destroyed the 1854 four-story brick and wood structure on Emerson Avenue was deemed suspicious since it was unoccupied and had no light, power, or heat to be a source of ignition. The house was owned by the Gloucester Housing Authority, which was considering it for affordable housing.
