1988The schooner Adventure was given to Gloucester.Economy and Industry, Maritime & Fishing Industry

The Massachusetts Historical Commission listed the fishing schooner Adventure on the State Register of Historical Places as a “largely intact and important surviving example of a Gloucester fishing schooner of late 19th/early 20th-century design” just before the boat was brought from Camden, ME to the port of Gloucester. The Adventure was designated as a National Historic Landmark in 1994, and with a preservation restriction in 1997 that required the use of original materials and design throughout its restoration.
