On February 5, 1935, the fire started with Roland Saunders’ summer cottage on Witham Street, spread to the 40-room Good Habor Beach Inn, and then to Percy Graves’ cottage on Salt Island Road. A water curtain kept the fire from damaging the Brier Hotel.
