Tammy Younger, known as the “Queen of the Witches,” lived with her aunt Luce George on Fox Hill, by the bridge at Alewife Brook. Both women were rumored to be witches. Many people had to cross the bridge to reach Pigeon Cove or Sandy Bay. Tammy collected a “toll” by yelling abuses at travelers until they would toss her some of the goods they were carrying.
