This is an excerpt from a life history interview conducted by members of the Down the Fort documentary and archive project with Grace Frances (Misuraca) Favazza in 2010 at her home in Gloucester, MA. A native of Gloucester, Grace was born and raised at 2 Fort Square. In this interview excerpt, Grace tells a story about how, as a young girl about eight years old, she participated in a home birth, helping a midwife and her mother deliver the child of Grace’s older sister in their shared bedroom in the Favazza family home nearly 100 years ago. Born in 1928, Grace passed away at the age of 93 in 2020.
